Understanding Repair Estimates

When involved in an auto accident your insurance company may ask you to get and estimate  from an auto body repair shop of your choice, such as Nu Way Car Center, or an appraiser can come to your location to write an estimate. Nu Way Car Center uses a computerized estimating system giving the most up to date pricing on parts. The estimates are written based on what is visibly  damaged. There may be hidden damage underneath which can not be determined until your car is torn down.  Understanding repair estimates  may be confusing. Below are a few things to keep in mind when reviewing your repair estimate.

  1. Your first estimate is preliminary.
  2. The pricing will vary based on the type of parts sourced for the repairs. The insurance company may write the estimate using aftermarket or used parts instead of original parts. In some cases aftermarket and/or used parts may not be available for your vehicle.
  3. 90% of the preliminary estimates written will require a supplement. A supplement will need to be written and forwarded to your insurance company to ensure all repairs are done properly. Nu Way Car Center works with all insurance companies. We know how to write and submit estimates and supplements correctly on the customer’s behalf. Supplements can not be submitted by the customer. The auto repair shop that is repairing the vehicle must submit the supplements.
  4. You have the right to choose your auto body repair shop. The insurance company can not coerce you into using their shop.
