Understanding insurance deductibles

Understanding insurance claim deductibles can be a bit confusing. Many of our customers have questions regarding their deductibles and ask us to explain the process to them. We have outlined how the insurance claims deductible works. For example, your insurance company will write a repair order for the damages to your vehicle. If the total amount of the damages are $2500.00 and your deductible is $500.00, the check amount you receive from the insurance company will be $2000.00. When the repairs have been completed the customer owes the auto body shop $500.00. Not everyone has a $500.00 deductible. Deductibles can be from $250.00 and up. Deductibles are determined when you apply for your insurance coverage. Be sure to read your policy or contact your agent to verify the amount of your deductible. If you have collision and comprehensive coverage for your car, the deductibles are usually different. Your deductible for collision repair is usually higher than a comprehensive repair. A collision claim is when you are involved in an accident. A comprehensive claim is from damaged caused by theft, vandalism, hail, etc. When you bring your car to Nu Way always let us know your insurance claim deductible amount. If you do not know the amount we will contact your insurance company for you. In some cases we are able to save your insurance claim deductibles. If you are wanting to save your deductible this will need to be discussed when you drop your car off at Nu Way. Letting us know upfront helps because we can then figure the repair plan. Do you have questions on how we can save your deductible?  Give us a call. We will explain it to you. Keep in mind that the repair contract is between the vehicle owner and the auto body repair shop.
