Protect your car from the sun and heat

Summer is almost upon us here in North Texas. You all know it gets hot in Texas. The interior of your car can reach up to 145 degrees Fahrenheit and the exterior can reach 195 degrees. The sun and heat can have damaging effects on your car. You all want to keep our cars looking and driving like new right? Below are a few ideas to help protect your car from the sun and heat.

INTERIOR

  1. Park in the shade if possible to protect your dashboard. Crack your windows to keep the interior cooler.
  2. Use a windshield sun protector. Sun protectors keep your car cool and prevents sun damage.
  3. Wipe your dashboard with a microfiber cloth to remove dirt and dust particles. Apply a low gloss detailing product also.
  4. Use seat covers to protect leather and fabrics.
  5. Keep leather clean and use a leather conditioner often.

EXTERIOR

  1. Wash and hand dry your car often to remove dust and dirt particles.
  2. Wax your car on a regular basis to protect from ultraviolet rays.

COOLING SYSTEM AND BATTERY

  1. Check your belts regularly
  2. Replace antifreeze/coolant regularly.
  3. Check other fluid levels.
    • Motor oil
    • Transmission fluid
    • Power steering fluid
    • Brake fluid
  4. Have your battery and charging system checked regularly
  5. Check your A/C system and freon levels.
